A living farm shaped by generations and still evolving today.

and its story

the land

We welcome you to a restful stay surrounded by farmland, pine forest, and open rural landscape.

The farm remains actively cared for by our family today, shaped by generations of life on the land.

Buffalo Woods is a fifth-generation family farm and historic farm stay in Wendell, North Carolina.

The land at Buffalo Woods was originally farmed by the Davis family and has remained in continuous agricultural use for generations. The farming seasons continue to shape daily life here—quiet winters, busy spring planting, and the work of harvest in the fall. Over time, portions of the land were planted in pine, adding texture, shade, and biodiversity to the farm’s natural landscape.

Today, it remains a working family farm. Tobacco still grows in the fields, cattle graze the pastures, and multiple generations of our family remain involved in its daily life.

Hospitality here is not separate from the farm—it is part of its ongoing rhythm and work.

Shaped by generations. Still actively farmed.

The Land

The People

Many lives. One place.

The land that is now Buffalo Woods was first farmed by the Davis family, who built their life here around tobacco farming and rural work.

Eula and Albert Davis lived in what is now known as the Davis Homeplace, a brick farmhouse built in 1946. Inside, preserved details—marriage papers, school diplomas, and a handwritten bill of sale for a mule—offer a glimpse into everyday farm life in mid-century rural North Carolina.

Nearby, the King Mary House once served as a tenant home for those who helped sustain the land. Among them were King and Mary Vinson, whose names remain woven into the property’s living history.

Today, the Edwards family serves as stewards of Buffalo Woods, continuing to care for the land while honoring all who have been part of its story.

Buffalo Woods is cared for through a shared family effort across generations.

Our parents, Randy and Rhonda, own and live on the land and continue to oversee its long-term stewardship. My brother, Simon, and sister-in-law, Lauren, manage the cattle and farming operations. My cousin, Ally, helps clean and prepare the homes for guests. I handle guest communication and hosting, making sure each stay feels supported and personal.

Every stay is shaped by many hands—but all connected to the same family and the same land.

Some guests spend the whole weekend exploring.

Others never leave the porch.

Either way, life feels a little slower here. The woods are quiet, the houses are comfortable, and there's plenty of room to do as much—or as little—as you'd like.

We had an absolutely incredible stay at Sydney’s fabulous historic farmhouse! From start to finish, Sydney was a top-notch host.

The farmhouse itself is the perfect blend of old-world charm and modern comfort. It’s beautifully maintained, thoughtfully designed, and fully equipped with everything you could possibly need. You truly get the best of both worlds: cozy countryside character with all the modern amenities.

We loved every single moment of our stay—from the peaceful surroundings to the little details that made it feel like home. And yes… we already miss the cows!

Our experience with Sydney and her house is what Airbnb should model as the “standard” requirement for all participating owners…We’ve stayed in 40+ rental properties across ABnB (and other) and this was the closest to perfection that my family and I have experienced! Kudos to Sydney and their level of care and detail.

Sydney is an incredible host! She thought of every detail inside the house. And the house is absolutely perfect. It was spotlessly clean. We used the kitchen extensively, and everything was modern and pristine. The beds and bedding were comfortable. The sunroom was peaceful and such a relief after daily meetings. The house sits off the main road in such a way that it feels like it's hidden in the woods. It's surrounded by trees and backyard animals (rabbits, squirrels, birds). We can't wait to stay here again!
